Standards for Master's
Training
Programs in Applied Psychology
CCPPP encourages terminal master's programs in applied
psychology to adopt a training model and a set of standards
such as those of CAMPP, CACREP, or NASP, and to become a member
of one of these organizations. See links below for more information
on these organizations.
Council of
Applied Master's Programs in Psychology (CAMPP)
http://www.camppsite.org
Member programs adopt a training model similar in scope, though
not in depth or duration, to accreditation of doctoral programs
in professional psychology. Some member programs of the Canadian
Council of Professional Psychology Programs also belong to
CAMPP.
Council
for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs
(CACREP)
http://www.counseling.org/site/PageServer?pagename=cacrep
CACREP accredits counselor training programs (not counseling
psychology per se). Its members follow training standards.
National
Association of School Psychologists (NASP)
http://www.nasponline.org/index2.html
Through its Program Approval Board, NASP approves graduate
programs in school psychology that meet its standards. It
also offers the Nationally Certified School Psychologist credential
which is accepted in many states.
